A Benefit for IMS

September 10, 2023 at 7 - 8:30 P.M. EDT

Registration is closed for this program.

Next May, IMS will offer a nine-day residential monastic retreat at no cost to retreatants, not even for food or lodging. Led by Ajahn Amaro, the abbot of Amaravati Monastery in England, this program will be purely dana-based. To support this very generous offering, Joseph Goldstein, a co-founder of IMS, will hold a benefit program on Sunday, Sept. 10, 7 - 8:30 P.M.

In this special online event, Joseph will join Guy Armstrong, an IMS guiding teacher, for a conversation exploring the people and practices that inspired the creation of the Insight Meditation Society. Topics will range from the Thai Forest tradition of Ajahn Chah, and its teachers, to the Burmese tradition of Mahasi Sayadaw, and its teachers, and how these lineages have influenced practice at IMS and shaped our understanding of Nibbana.

We hope you can join us for this opportunity to hear Joseph and Guy discuss these topics of great dharma interest and help support this unique donation-only retreat at IMS.
