Moving Towards Freedom with Love and Wisdom
Livestream Retreat
Thursday, November 18, 2027 - Monday, November 22, 2027
Registration for this retreat opens on 11/17/2026.
This livestream retreat invites us to pause and turn gently toward our own lives. Through the simplicity of silence, we make space to listen to what is stirring within us, and to the living world that holds us. In this quiet awareness, qualities such as care, kindness, love, courage, joy, and inner stability are allowed to emerge—not as ideals to attain, but as companions on the path, shaping and being shaped by wisdom itself. With the steady presence and guidance of the teachers, we are invited to soften into experience as it is, discovering how a life lived with depth, responsibility, and wholehearted engagement may slowly unfold.
The livestream retreat format includes alternate periods of silent sitting and walking meditation practice, and dharma talks.
This online experience will be a livestream of the Moving Towards Freedom with Love and Wisdom retreat with Roxanne Dault and Matthew Brensilver. Meditation instructions and dharma talks will be live-streamed from the IMS Meditation Hall. Please note that there is no direct interaction with the onsite teachers during this online retreat.
This course is open to everyone.
This retreat begins on Thursday, November 18 at 7:15 pm ET and concludes Monday, November 22 at 10:45 am ET. A full home retreat schedule and instructions will be offered.

Roxanne Dault teaches meditation in Canada, USA and in France. She has been dedicated to this path for almost two decades, sitting on long retreats both in Asia and in the West. A Guiding Teacher at True North Insight, Roxanne teaches in different settings where she lives in Tiohti:áke (Montréal). She was mentored and invited by Joseph Goldstein and Pascal Auclair to join the IMS Teacher Training in 2017. Her teachings take root mainly from the lineage of Mahasi Sayadaw and are influenced by her love of nature and Indigenous wisdom. She is trained in Somatic Experiencing®, a body-mind approach aimed at relieving the symptoms of trauma and stress. She speaks French, English and is learning her ancestors’ language, Anishinaabemowin.
Matthew Brensilver, MSW, PhD teaches retreats at the Insight Retreat Center, Spirit Rock and other Buddhist centers. He was previously program director for Mindful Schools and for more than a decade, was a core teacher at Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society. Matthew worked as a clinical social worker, serving severely and persistently mentally ill adults and adolescents. Before committing to teach meditation full-time, he spent years doing research on addiction pharmacotherapy at the UCLA Center for Behavioral and Addiction Medicine. For a decade, he lectured at UCLA’s mindfulness center on the intersections between mindfulness, science and psychotherapy. He serves on the Board of Directors at Spirit Rock and Insight Meditation Center. Matthew is the co-author of two books about meditation during adolescence and continues to be interested in the unfolding dialogue between Buddhism and science.
