In the Buddha's Words: Series III
September - December 2024
Participate in all four suttas or choose the ones that interest you most.
The suttas found in the Pali Canon are narratives about and discourses given by the Buddha during his 45 years of teaching. From his first sermon, narrated in “The Setting in Motion of the Wheel of the Dhamma Sutta,” to his last teaching during the narrative account of his death before he entered final Nirvana, we will focus on the practical application of some of the Buddha’s most important lessons to our modern practice and daily lives.
In Series III, IMS Online teachers will explore one of the Buddha’s more challenging concepts, emptiness, what it means in the context of our often very full daily lives, and how we can practice with it. We will move on to the Buddha’s final teaching, trying to better understand what he deemed as the most important lessons he wanted to leave us with before his death. And finally, in the spirit of the season, we will welcome the end of the year with metta and blessings.
This program is open to beginning and seasoned meditators alike. All are welcome. This program will include dharma teachings, meditation instructions, and opportunities for Q&R.
